On the Job Training
« Businesses
We realize that the single biggest factor contributing to your bottom line is worker salaries. Add the costs associated with hiring a new employee (in the ballpark of $5,000) and you’ve got a major drain on your profits. But what if there was an innovative way to not only reduce hiring costs but also to contribute to the regional economy by increasing the quality of our workforce? Think OJTs! Here’s how it works: Either your organization or the staff at your local Central Kentucky Job Center finds an applicant that doesn’t have all the necessary skills but is ready to work and is trainable. The applicant may also be a recent hire or one of your existing workers. CKJC staff determine whether the applicant is “eligible” and, if so, develop a training plan with you. We pay up to $1,000 (or 50% of the worker’s salary which ever is less) during an agreed upon “training period” to cover your training costs. At the end of the training period, you get a skilled employee, trained your way, and up to $1,000 per worker.
Yes, it really is that simple.
You can use OJTs to hire for new positions or to promote current workers (called an “Upgrade OJT”). As soon as you move one worker up, you can also use OJTs to backfill any vacant positions. Not only are you staffing your organization at reduced costs, but you are also increasing the skill level of our regional workforce, resulting in an economic boost for everyone. Contact your local Central Kentucky Job Center to investigate the possibilities of an OJT for your organization. Businesses we have worked with: « Businesses
