Time Warner Cable has two Positions currently open in Richmond:

Installer

Job Description: Installation of Cable Television Services in Subscriber Homes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Connects and disconnects cable, pay television and HSD services.
  • Performs upgrades, downgrades, pre-wiring and multiple dwelling installations.
  • Installs drops, outlets, converters, cable modems, digital terminals and other cable system devices subscriber homes.
  • Performs tap audits.
  • Reviews, completes and signs customer work orders ensuring that all paperwork is properly and accurately completed.
  • Checks subscriber television reception and properly tunes television set.
  • Maintains and stocks necessary materials and tools for company vehicles.
  • Recognizes, practices and ensures safety rules and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • May sell additional services and/or products to customers.
  • May collect converter deposits, installation fees, past-due payments and other customer payments.
  • May conduct CLI testing and complete repairs.
  • May perform minor troubleshooting and small repair problems back to the tap.
  • May assist Service Technicians.
  • May perform on-call duties during non-business hours.

PUBLIC RELATIONS: Extensive contact with Technical and Office personnel and the general public.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Electronic experience or course work is preferred. Customer Service experience is a plus.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of cable products, programming choices and prices
  • Knowledge of basic electronics
  • Knowledge of radio procedures
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics
  • Knowledge and use of PC
  • Knowledge of safety rules and procedures
  • Proficient use of company tools and equipment
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communications
  • Ability to administer first aid and CPR
  • Ability to organize materials, tools and equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot, solve and repair technical problems
  • Ability to interpret maps and navigate cities
  • Ability to respond quickly to system outages

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Company vehicle (with valid drivers license), company bucket truck, PC, two-way radio, hard hats, various size company tools and equipment which include, but are not limited to: screwdrivers, pliers, ladders, shovels, test meters, sweep gear, o-scopes, spectrum analyzer, waveform monitor, vector scope, signal analysis meter, bench sweep alignment equipment, locating equipment, signal generator, DVM, VOM and leakage detection equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Driving for long periods of time. Operating company bucket truck. Requires dexterity skills: digging, crawling, stooping and standing. Lifting and carrying up to 75lbs of company tools and equipment. Climbing on ladders, telephone poles and/or towers. Subject to encounter extreme weather conditions. Due to OSHA requirements for ladders and buckets, this position has a physical weight restriction based on the OSHA specifications of the equipment minus 25 pounds allowance for personal tools.
