Bluegrass Workforce Investment Board
The Bluegrass Workforce Investment Board (BGWIB) is comprised of business leaders from the private sector from the 17 counties of the Central Kentucky region: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, and Woodford.
By far, the board’s major work lies in creating a vision for the local workforce area, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the local workforce, capitalizing on and creating opportunities for development, and connecting various interested or affected parties with resources and solutions so that the Bluegrass area workforce thrives in the competitive economy of the 21st century.
The largest portion of the WIB’s responsibility and control lie in the management and coordination of the local One Stop System, called the Central Kentucky Job Centers, which house the cooperative efforts of several public workforce investment agencies.
